Flachau – Overview

Just 60 kilometres from Salzburg, the birthplace of Mozart, and conveniently located near the A10 Tauern Motorway, lies Austria's remarkable Three Valleys Ski Area, with over 300 kilometres of skiable slopes.

At the heart of this picturesque region lies Flachau, an idyllic farming community dotted with charming traditional chalets. Perfect for intermediate skiers, Flachau's ski area encompasses 56 kilometres of slopes, all of which are classified as blue or red.

In addition, the connected Salzburger Sportwelt area offers over 300 kilometres of mainly intermediate slopes with some expert sections. And if that's not enough, Flachau is an integral part of Ski amadé, Austria's largest ski network with 270 lifts and a staggering 760 kilometres of slopes.

Flachau offers direct lift connections to Wagrain, Kleinarl and Flachauwinkl, as well as access to Zauchensee and Alpendorf. The village is renowned for the extraordinary achievements of its famous local, Herman Maier, a world and Olympic champion. In addition, the neighbouring village of Reitdorf, which is linked to Wagrain, is part of the Flachau domain, adding to the area's appeal.

Flachau – Ski Map & Pistes

The area prides itself on being the home of Hermann Maier, the Herminator, Austria's world and Olympic downhill champion, so you'd think the skiing would be good!  And it does, if you are an intermediate skier.  With miles and miles of wide, smooth, beautifully groomed slopes, most skiers will have a great time.

One of the highlights is the 12 Peaks Trophy - skiing from A to Z over 12 peaks and 5 valleys - a new ski circuit created by the new connection from Snow Space Salzburg to Shuttleberg Flachauwinkl-Kleinarl and the World Cup resort of Zauchensee.

Shuttleberg Flachauwinkl-Kleinarl is the place to be if you're a freestyle skier or boarder: the Absolut Park in Flachauwinkl is one of the biggest and best snowparks in Europe.

Experienced skiers will also find that Flachau is not without its challenges, not least the 6km run from the Griessenkar ridge.

Thanks to the abundance of easy blue runs, beginners will have plenty of choice when it comes time to graduate from the nursery slopes, and skiers of all abilities will enjoy exploring the area together.

In addition to skiing, Flachau also caters for cross-country skiing enthusiasts with an extensive network of some 160 kilometres of trails. Glide through the unspoilt winter landscape and breathe in the fresh Alpine air as you take part in this popular winter activity.
