The surroundings, which consist of water, dykes, windmills, and dunes, are also great to explore by bike. Along the way, you snack on herring or have a kibble or a croquette sandwich at one of the many outdoor cafés. We also definitely recommend a visit to beautiful Alkmaar. Alkmaar is famous for its cheese market; order a cheeseboard and glass of Heineken somewhere and appreciate the Netherlands. If you want to enjoy the sea, go to the seaside beaches of Castricum or Egmond aan Zee. Many amenities are available at the park and harbor, including several restaurants and bike and boat rentals. The park is easily accessible by motorway, and Schiphol Airport is nearby
