About this tour
Ready to take a hike? You’ve come to the right place. Canada is home to some of the finest trails in North America, and your fellow solo hikers are waiting. This 13-day adventure will have you tackling paths that coil around mountains and snake through inland rainforests, plus enjoying views of massive glaciers and snow-covered peaks in the Canadian Rockies. Combine active adventures with spotting wildlife, munching maple-flavoured everything (cookies, donuts, bacon – you name it) and stargazing with your new friends. This is the perfect introduction to Canada’s iconic mountain range. This trip covers a lot of ground so be prepared for some long drives. You'll be travelling in a van with a group, so conditions may feel a little cramped. This is all part of the adventure, and friendships form fast in tight quarters. , This is a participatory trip. That’s a fancy way of saying you’re not just along for the ride – you're part of a team! Be prepared to roll up your sleeves and help with camp activities like food prep and washing up., That teamwork also extends to our optional food kitty of approximately CAD$20 per day to cover the cost of meals. This kitty saves you worrying about where to get food, sales taxes and helps keep your costs down by bulk purchasing items together. If you've got specific dietary requirements, you can opt out and purchase (and cook) your own food., Some activities in the Rockies have flexible opening and closing dates that vary based on snowfall at higher elevations and other seasonal conditions. On departures in May, early June, September, and October, some activities like gondolas, certain mountain hikes, or rafting may be unavailable, but these shoulder season months offer the advantage of fewer crowds and a more relaxed travel experience. Your leader will have a range of alternative activity suggestions no matter the season., The weather can be unpredictable in the mountains. We advise wearing layers in all seasons, including warmer months as conditions can be cold. , Mosquitoes are most active during summer months and wetter seasons. To protect yourself, use insect repellent. Wear long-sleeved, light-coloured clothing especially during dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active., To ensure you to get the most out of this trip, we recommend you are moderately fit. The hikes are a real highlight and give you access to some fantastic scenery.
